The world’s greatest classical music concert – Made in Basel
Basel Stadtcasino – Saturday 21 November 2026
Inspired by the legendary music festival at the Royal Albert Hall in London, every two years, Basel Proms stages a glittering gala evening that brings together Swiss, UK and international artists, a 120-strong chorus, and orchestra, in a grand celebration of music, arts and culture. It really is a unique event for Switzerland.
The orchestra and chorus are led by Principal Conductor, David Lawrence, one of the UK’s most acclaimed and versatile conductors. David works with orchestras, symphony choruses, and national youth choirs. He was awarded a prestigious award by the Royal Academy of Music, is a Gramophone nominee, and holds the Guinness World Record for conducting the UK’s largest choir.
BASEL PROMS ETHOS
Bringing the highest quality music to the broadest possible audience in an exhilarating way
Our chorus embodies our commitment to community engagement and cultural exchange. We have singers of all ages and abilities, numerous nationalities (approx. 50% Swiss), and from all walks of life. We welcome anyone who wants to sing, and the result is truly exceptional.
Over the decades, classical music has grown into something rather exclusive and expensive, but at its roots, it was never meant to be a preserve of wealthy intellectuals.
The Basel Proms aims to bend rules and buck this trend. We design every concert to be a joyous celebration that captivates and inspires. Our concerts are anything but dull and passé!
Programmes strike a balance between accessibility and a high level of artistic integrity. When you come to Basel Proms, you can enjoy classical music at its finest, then clap and sing along to a finale of well-known popular classics, amidst a sea of international flags.
