Basel Proms chorus to perform at the ESC with SING!Basel
The Basel Proms Chorus and Sing!Basel have a common mission in 2025, and that is to get everyone singing!
During Eurovision week (10-17 May 2025), the Basel Proms chorus will perform on various Eurovision stages, and help lead Sing!Basel public workshops – giant, joyous singalongs at Barfüsserplatz and the Messe – that will be free of charge and open to all.
Dates and times can be found at www.singbasel.com
An internationally acclaimed conductor and world-class soloists* will be on stage working their magic upon the crowds. The public will learn to sing a well-known Eurovision song that has been specially arranged for the occasion. Basel Proms chorus members will be alongside, helping everyone to sing the harmonies.
*The crowd will be in the capable hands of Chorus Master, David Lawrence. David holds the Guinness World Record for leading the UK’s largest choir, and has just finished touring the UK with ‘Young Voices’ where he conducted whole stadia of children singing alongside guest artists such as Jacob Collier. Check out this clip!
Sing!Basel singer-coaches are all based in Basel. You will meet professional Choir Master, Maija Geschwind, and renowned international artists, soprano, Beverley Worboys, and guest tenor, Christopher Orton, who have performed on Europe’s biggest stages. You can read about the full team on the Sing Basel website (Info section)
So are you ready to SING!Basel? Have no experience? Perfect. Just come on down to Barfüsserplatz and Messeplatz, and we’ll do the rest!

The world’s greatest classical music concert – Made in Basel
Basel Stadtcasino – Saturday 28 November 2026
Inspired by the legendary music festival at the Royal Albert Hall in London, every two years, Basel Proms stages a glittering gala evening that brings together Swiss, UK and international artists, a 120-strong chorus, and orchestra, in a grand celebration of music, arts and culture. It really is a unique event for Switzerland.
The orchestra and chorus are led by Principal Conductor, David Lawrence, one of the UK’s most acclaimed and versatile conductors. David works with orchestras, symphony choruses, and national youth choirs. He was awarded a prestigious award by the Royal Academy of Music, is a Gramophone nominee, and holds the Guinness World Record for conducting the UK’s largest choir.
BASEL PROMS ETHOS
Bringing the highest quality music to the broadest possible audience in an exhilarating way
Over the decades, classical music has evolved into a rather exclusive, expensive, and inaccessible experience. However, at its roots, classical music was never meant to be a preserve of wealthy intellectuals.
The Basel Proms aims to buck this trend. The Basel Proms bends rules and challenges the perception that classical concerts are dull and passé.
Our programmes strike a balance between accessibility and a high level of artistic integrity.
We design every concert to be a joyous celebration that captivates and inspires. When you come to Basel Proms, you can enjoy classical music at its best, then clap and sing along to a finale of well-known popular classics, amidst a sea of waving flags.
Our chorus embodies our commitment to community engagement and cultural exchange. We have singers of all ages and abilities, from all walks of life. We welcome anyone who wants to sing, and the result is truly exceptional.
